The late king in my memory

As soon as I waked up in the morning of PHCHUM BEN DAY, my hubby told me that the king’s father passed away at mid-night. Well, I was surprised a little bit as I expected that at this age he would leave us some day.

The late king, in my memory, he was like a king in a fairy tale. As I remembered, I was at grade 5 (no, maybe 4, whatever who care?) in primary school when he returned back to Cambodia. At that time, the students were told to line up  along the road from the air port to the palace in honor of the late king’s return. My waiting place was in front of HONGKONG CENTER. I was excited waiting to cheer up the late king who was called PRINCE SIHANOUK at that time. I hoped to see his face… sound silly huh?  However, I didn’t catch a chance at all and I don’t even remember why. At that time, I love his beautiful songs soooo muchhhh… ពេលរាត្រី  ជំនោរវិច្ឆិកា ភ្នំពេញ បុប្ផាវៀងច័ន្ទ….

The late king was the symbol of our nation unity but now he is no more 😦  He passed away with lot of untold stories. All I can say is that may his soul rest in peace.
